With a population of about 228,000 in the city and about 2 million in the metropolitan area, Orlando is located in central Florida in what was once a major citrus-growing region. Today, the city is most known for being home to world famous attractions including the Walt Disney Resort and the Universal Orlando Resort, making the city the third most visited city in the United States.

Although the city’s economy is based primarily on tourism, the local economy has since diversified. The University of Central Florida is also located in Orlando. Orlando has a warm and relatively humid subtropical climate. Summers are marked with hot and rainy weather, with storms rolling in almost every afternoon. During the winter the weather is more dry and has less frequent rainfall.

Although Orlando offers its guests excellent dining, shopping, and entertainment experiences, it is the attraction parks in the surrounding areas that attract most of the visitors. What’s New at Disney World for 2008

A wide array of attractions and entertainment is being presented as Walt Disney World Resort extends its Year of a Million Dreams celebration throughout 2008. As part of this spectacular celebration, Disney also plans to grant a million more dreams through the Disney Dreams giveaway.

Hoping to magnify the success of the previous year, the 2008 Year of a Million Dreams promises more dreams that “only Disney can make true.” This year’s Giveaway will include a New Year’s Eve night stay inside Cinderella’s Castle, and a star-studded trip to the High School Musical 3 premiere. One dream includes a hot-air balloon over a Disney World theme park.

Some dreams come and smaller packages, but it doesn’t make them any less exciting. Disney plans to award Dream FASTPASS badges, special viewing for parades, shopping sprees, gourmet dinners, and additional hours for guests to enjoy any Disney theme Park.

Following are just some of the amazing attractions Disneyworld plans to add to its lineup.:

Toy Story Mania is the newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the former Disney-MGM Studios. Inspired by the film, this attraction features 3-D technology to produce an interactive ride-through video game. Equipped with spring action “shooters,” participants can do a number of tasks, from launching darts to sending a barrage of eggs at barnyard targets.

Block Party Bash

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also be home to Block Party Bash, a Disney/Pixar parade. Guests will be able to dance along with their favorite characters from movies such as A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc. and more.

High School Musical 2: School’s Out!

The High School Musical interactive show has an engaging cast that sings and dances to tunes from the extraordinarily successful Disney Channel Film, “High School Musical 2: School’s Out!” This show is available several times throughout the day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
